SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - Vic Cima, general manager of the GreenHaven Pocket Farmers Market (GHP), and Terry Catron, chair of the Doggie Fashion Show held on Sunday, June 14, agreed that the fourth annual contest was a great success.
Don Puliz, a longtime member of Elk Lodge 6, and retired Judge Rudolph “Barry” Loncke returned as judges for the event. Joining them was Carol “Coach” Mitchell, this year’s Exalted Ruler.
Jay Riddell, whom vendors call the face and host of the GreenHaven Pocket Farmers Market, is an invaluable assistant to Cima. On this day, Riddell had plenty of fun serving as emcee for the fashion show.
After conferring for 10 minutes, the judges selected four winners.
Best of Show went to Emory, a two-and-a-half-year-old Bernedoodle. According to owner Olivia Tafoya, Emory “loves socks.”
First place went to Cloud, a Standard Poodle. Owner and Elks 6 soloist Audra Jefferson said, “Cloud is an attention hog.” Cloud is a service dog, and Audra communicates with sign language because Cloud is deaf.
Jacquelyn Lucchesi’s two-and-a-half-year-old Miniature Schnauzer mix, Potato, took second place while dressed as a Beach Boy. The entry form claimed Potato was the “fastest Schnauzer in the world.” Interested readers can follow Potato the Powerful on Instagram and TikTok.
Pika Chu, a one-year-old Yorkshire Terrier who takes the job of neighborhood squirrel patrol very seriously, took third place while dressed as a Minion. Owners Steve and Caitlin Chu proudly watched Pika Chu earn the honor.
