SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - Vic Cima, general manager of the GreenHaven Pocket Farmers Market (GHP), started this weekly community event with the hope of building a better place to live. He believes they have been very successful, and this summer he especially enjoyed sponsoring a new community project.
The group only needed to be at the market for the summer months to get their program started. Cima said they probably won’t be returning to the farmers market, but he wants to continue supporting them and help inform the public about this worthwhile new organization.
They are the Pocket-Greenhaven MomCo (short for mom community), which is for moms of children ages 0-18 years (expecting moms are welcome, too!).
Kristen Broddrick, the group’s coordinator, said, “We are not able to offer childcare at this time, so consider this a standing date with your mom friends.”
Meetups include intentional conversations with other moms at your table, a short video related to motherhood, womanhood or relationships, and a creative activity.
The group meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month (September through May) from 7 to 9 p.m. at River’s Edge Church, 6449 Riverside Blvd. Their first meetup of the year was on Sept. 18 and drew 26 moms.
Broddrick, a mother of two young boys, added, “We also organize service projects, playdates and moms’ nights out throughout the year. Motherhood is better together, and we’d love to have you join us!”
